WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN THE COMMITMENT OF THE GENERAL PRACTICTITIONER.
Two years ago
the ethics group of Camfic started the elaboration of the document that we have
sent you. After a long process of participation and reflection it has recently been
approved by the members’ assembly and now we can offer it to you.
We want to make
clear to all citizens our professional commitment to each and everyone of them by
using the “Commitment of the General Practitioner”.
It’s a commitment that:
Identifies
us as a collective.
Brings us closer and makes us more humane, motivates us, gives
us morale and obligates us.
A commitment that briefly explains the values that we
wish to use to orientate our daily practice.
If you wish to engage, to implicate
yourself in these values, make them yours, share them with your colleagues, explain
them to them but above all use them in your place of work.
Joining is free, there
is no need to be a member. You can join on the internet by connecting to www.camfic.org
or on the phone (93 301 17 77) or in person at the central office at 8 Portaferrisa.
Once you have joined you will receive a document which you will be able to sign
and display in your surgery: hang it behind you or on your table or in the reception
area.
It takes nothing to get it, but is much more difficult to follow it, but it
is important to try and to tell everybody that we commit ourselves individually
and as a team to make sure we treat them with dedication, respect, proximity, loyalty,
prudence, equality and honesty.
Can you imagine all the catalan surgeries full of
“commitment to the general practitioner?”
Can you imagine the impact it could have?
Can you imagine your patients reading it?
Can you imagine .....?
Shall we try it
?
Do you want to join us?

MY COMMITMENT AS A GENERAL PRACTITIONER
I join the defined values for the Catalan Society of the General Practitioner
which encourage me to be a General Practitioner with:
|
|
 |
 |
| ...Treating your health as my main priority. |
 |
...respecting your dignity, your right of speech, your intimacy and keeping a secret personal information. |
|
 |
...treating yourself with warmth, love and courtesy, making sure to understand your
emotions and keeping calm in difficult moments.
|
 |
...giving you clear and sincere information about your health problems, possible
options, the risks, benefits and my advice, attending to your needs and beliefs.
|
 |
...not acting without suitable information, nor recommending actions that haven’t
been tested, unsure safetiness or that have more risk than benefit.
|
 |
...Treating everyone in the same way and using your skills properly with everyone.
|
 |
...Keeping up to date my knowledge of medicine, always referring to another professional
when needed, and not letting personal problems interfere with my commitment.
